One of Each

We went for our Level II ultrasound yesterday at the Perinatologist clinic offered by the hospital we will give birth at. A doctor comes up from Boston to run the clinic and I must say I was very impressed with him. He was really nice and I don't usually like OBs very much. The ultrasound consisted of a very detailed scan of each baby. They measure the head, the stomach, the leg bones, the arm bones. the nuchal fold and the crown/rump length. They also looked at the different parts of the brain, the four chambers of the heart, the position of the feet, the spine, the kidneys, the fingers, the toes and finally the sex organs.

So, yes, we now know what we are having! A boy and a girl! Baby A (the one closest to the cervix) is a boy. He is hanging out on my right side and thus far is the most active. Baby B is a girl and she is hanging out on my left side. They both moved a lot during the scan and quite often had their hands up at their mouths. As we were trying to figure out Baby A's sex, he put his hand in between his legs so we couldn't see! I guess he is the modest one. We are very excited to be having one of each. I think Greg was scared that he'd end up with a household full of estrogen. We have the girls first name but still need to figure out her middle name. We thought we had a boys name but have now decided against it so it's time to buy a baby names book.

I'd also like to congratulate Antigone Lost on the successful birth of her baby boy! Welcome to the world Perseus! Your mother loves you very very much!

Apparently it is the thing to do - a full set.

As for names, I offer Reed. I really like that name, but (a) it happens to be the name of my college (I liked college, but not THAT much) and (b) one of C's cousins has that name.
