Wishing

Working Mom entry....

Today was one of those days where I feel like I went non-stop and yet got nothing accomplished. Now I’m exhausted beyond belief which I suppose is a good sign. It was the kind of day where I started wishing I were a stay-at-home-mom. Most of the time I’m ok with being a working mom. Working gives me a chance to contribute to the household and be someone other than a mom. I also got promoted to manager recently and I really like my job. I’ve wanted to be a manager for a long time so now that my career is finally going somewhere, it is hard to give up.

However, today I craved a simpler life where I could spend more time with my beautiful, vivacious daughter. I got up at 6:45, took a shower, got dressed, got Lizzie dressed, fed her breakfast, dropped her off at daycare, came home, ate breakfast while I worked, picked Lizzie up at 9:30, drove to Beverly to hit the Children’s Drop and Shop (a twice a year consignment sale – it was chaos!), did a quick look through the clothing and toys, bought a few things, drove to the pediatrician, waited forever for the Dr. while Lizzie ran around the room and ate lunch, help Lizzie during her 16 month appt., drove back and dropped Lizzie off at daycare, picked up lunch, returned home to eat lunch and work. My work day ended with a 2 hour conference call then I picked up Lizzie, took her and the dog for a walk, fed her dinner, played and then after my husband came home and started the bedtime process, I made dinner. *phew*

Now do you see why I found myself wishing I was a stay-at-home-mom. I know it’s not at easy job but I have to believe it is easier than my day today. I think I’ll go ask my husband for a backrub.

I think it's always hard to find the balance... no matter if you're a SAHM or working.
Hope you get your backrub.

Well, yeah. Your day certainly sounds busier than my average day. But if it makes you feel any better, there are days when I think wistfully of things like bringing home a paycheck and, you know, using my brain.
