I'm working away from home for the first time this week. I flew across the country on Monday morning and will return on Friday. Getting through the day, sitting in meeting after meeting is really difficult. I'm just so tired that sometimes it is hard to concentrate. It's been very useful, workwise, but tough.
I also really miss Lizzie. I called my Mom today (it was Nana day) and I could hear her laughing in the background. She was playing with my brother's dog and having a great time. She didn't even want to talk to her Mama! The good thing though is that she doesn't seem to miss me. My husband and my Mom are doing a great job filling in for me. I am really looking forward to this weekend though where I can spend lots of time with her doing fun things.
I am a working mom with a toddler and twins. My daughter was born after multiple invasive infertility treatments but fortunately it only took one IVF cycle for the twins. This blog is mainly about balancing home, work and hubby with a little infertility thrown in.

Wishing
Working Mom entry....
Today was one of those days where I feel like I went non-stop and yet got nothing accomplished. Now I’m exhausted beyond belief which I suppose is a good sign. It was the kind of day where I started wishing I were a stay-at-home-mom. Most of the time I’m ok with being a working mom. Working gives me a chance to contribute to the household and be someone other than a mom. I also got promoted to manager recently and I really like my job. I’ve wanted to be a manager for a long time so now that my career is finally going somewhere, it is hard to give up.
However, today I craved a simpler life where I could spend more time with my beautiful, vivacious daughter. I got up at 6:45, took a shower, got dressed, got Lizzie dressed, fed her breakfast, dropped her off at daycare, came home, ate breakfast while I worked, picked Lizzie up at 9:30, drove to Beverly to hit the Children’s Drop and Shop (a twice a year consignment sale – it was chaos!), did a quick look through the clothing and toys, bought a few things, drove to the pediatrician, waited forever for the Dr. while Lizzie ran around the room and ate lunch, help Lizzie during her 16 month appt., drove back and dropped Lizzie off at daycare, picked up lunch, returned home to eat lunch and work. My work day ended with a 2 hour conference call then I picked up Lizzie, took her and the dog for a walk, fed her dinner, played and then after my husband came home and started the bedtime process, I made dinner. *phew*
Now do you see why I found myself wishing I was a stay-at-home-mom. I know it’s not at easy job but I have to believe it is easier than my day today. I think I’ll go ask my husband for a backrub.

Infertility vs. Mommy Blog
Thanks to ICLW I've been reading a log of different blogs this week which got me to thinking. Many of the blogs listed on Mel's site are about infertility and life in general. I noticed that in some blogs the women who have suffered from fertility problems but now have families either have a separate blog for fertility issues and another for mommy stuff, other bloggers choose to warn readers when their is content about kids. Which leads me to wonder, can you combine blogging about infertility and blogging about your kids?
I was thinking about this as I walked over to get my daughter from daycare today and it seems to me that they aren't two separate topics, they are inevitably intertwined. If those of us who suffer from fertility issues were never able to have families then all the treatments would be futile and the whole infertility industry would not exist. We put up with all the invasive tests and procedures to ultimately end up with a family or we choose to adopt and grow our family that way. That means there are many of us who want to discuss both infertility and family hence they become one and the same.
I am painfully aware that not all infertility sufferers end up with the family they so desperately desire and that they probably don't want to read about my views on being a working mom, it would just be too painful for them. My heart definitely goes out to you if you fall in to that category. I know that I'm very lucky to finally have my family and I don't take that for granted. So, those of you who decide to stick with me, I hope you don't mind that I mix infertility with family, because in the end, that is the way it should be.

Hello World, It's me! An Infertile Working Mom!
Hello. My name is Rebecca and I'll be your blogger today. I'd like this blog to mainly talk about being a working mom and the challenges that comes with it but I also suffer from infertility and am about to go for #2 so there will probably be a bit of that sprinkled in as well. In fact, I suspect a lot of my first posts will cover infertility topics since I'm only a couple days away from starting my injections.
So, what makes me qualified to talk about being a working mom. Let me tell you a little about myself. I live in a beautiful seaside town in New England that is just far enough away from the city to keep prices relatively reasonable but close enough that if you are willing to suffer the commute, it's a great place to live. I grew up in this town but left for a long time only to return at the end of 2004 with my British husband. We had just started trying for a baby but we didn't succeed until 2007 when our daughter was born. It took us 2 IVFs, a frozen embryo transfer and a final IVF at a new clinic before our little miracle baby, Lizzie, was born.
I went back to work when she was 4 months old. In the beginning I mainly worked from home and had her with me. When she was 7 months old I started her at daycare two days a week. When she started crawling we picked up another day at daycare. So that was 3 days in daycare, one day with my Mom and one day at home with me as I attempted to work. Finally about the time she turned one and I got a promotion at work we put her in daycare 4 days a week but we moved her to one close to home (instead of close to my job where she had to do the commute with me).
So, that's where we are now. I work from home 2 days a week so her daycare days aren't quite so long and I get to spend some nice quality time with her at the end of the day. It certainly keeps us busy!
