I just found out this morning that my children's daycare center is closing for the summer and possibly for good. I'm totally devastated. Despite the fact that they close for all the minor holidays it really was the best possible childcare situation for my children. The teachers there are fabulous, it is only about a mile away from my home, it is a small center, my kids can all be in the same place, it is right next to the train station so Greg can pick up the kids once a week, all my kids can go there and they were flexible enough to realize when Lizzie needed to switch rooms earlier than normal.
Now I have to figure out what to do. I feel sick to my stomach. No matter what it is going to be traumatic for Emily. She just doesn't like strangers. For example on Sunday we were video chatting with her grandparents in England and she started crying really hard. Finally I realized she was scared of her grandparents on the computer because she doesn't see them very often. That is how sensitive she is! So now I have to decide if we should get a nanny for the summer in the hopes that their center will re-open or if we should just bite the bullet and change to a place in the next town over. No matter what though there will be upheaval which I'm not looking forward to.

Completely understand how you feel. I'm SCARED to find something for all three of mine for the fall.
What about a nanny for good - instead of just the summer? I was lucky that mine was my good friend's sister and it was AMAZING! Or an at home daycare? Smaller like what you currently have - harder to find but would be worth it if you could find it.
