One thing that makes having a toddler fun and interesting is the unexpected things they say or do. For example, this morning when I walked in to Lizzie's bedroom she was standing in her crib and she said, "Good Morning Mama" very clearly. I have never heard her say "Good Morning". It was a very nice way to start the day.
However, it was last night that she really did something unexpected. To give you a little background, Lizzie is currently obsessed with the Nickelodeon show, Yo Gabba Gabba. She asks to watch it all the time and you will always find her carrying around her Brobee, Muno and Toodee dolls. She sings the songs from show and knows the names of all the characters. So, with that in mind, I bought her some Yo Gabba Gabba bath toys to play with at bathtime.
They arrived in the mail yesterday and I was very excited to give them to her. However, this is where we encounter the unexpected reaction. Instead of the excitement I expected, she burst in to tears and wouldn't stop crying. It took quite awhile to get her settled back down. In fact we had to put all the toys back in their bag before she was completely happy. We think that perhaps she might have been overtired and overwhelmed (there are a lot of toys). She didn't want them to touch the water, which sort of defeats the purpose of bath toys. So, we will try again tonight and hope for a better reaction.
